Complaint Details:
I visited SBI HMT Area, Jalahalli Branch on many occasions in order to transfer my Savings Bank Account, which is currently in Hyderabad to their Branch, as I have shifted my Residence from Hyderabad to Bangalore and SBI HMT Area Branch is closer to my Residence.
Initially, I was told by an official that if I write to the Bank Manager of SBI HMT Area, the same would be forwarded to Hyderabad and that the account would be transferred. But, after I took the letter to the branch and asked them to forward it, they immediately refused to take it and asked me to write an email to the Hyderabad branch. I did the same but did not get any response from Hyderabad. So, I again visited SBI HMT Area and told them that I have not received any response from Hyderabad and requested them to forward it. But, they rudely asked me to go personally to Hyderabad and get my account transferred. They refused to even forward my application, which I strongly condemn.
Also, I lost my ATM Card recently and hence I had blocked it. But after a day, I got it back. I called up SBI Customer Care and asked them to unblock it. But, the Customer Care guy told me that it is not possible to unblock the card over phone and that I have to give a written request to the bank. He also mentioned clearly that the request could be given in any SBI Branch. So, today when I went to SBI HMT in order to give a request, they again refused to take it stating that my Home Branch is Hyderabad and that I cannot request here. How is it possible for me to travel to Hyderabad each time for every small work?
When I asked them if I could withdraw money as my card is blocked, the lady official refused to give me the withdrawal slip and asked to withdraw only by cheque. When I questioned as to why withdrawal slip was not being given to me, the lady said that they don’t give withdrawal slips. But few days back, I had withdrawn money using a withdrawal slip only. And people who don’t have cheque books or ATM Card, how can they withdraw money then? The officials in this branch act and work according to their whims and fancies and have a very indifferent attitude towards customers.
They also did not allow me to deposit a cheque since this was not my Home Branch. Although, it is a Nationalized Bank, they asked me to go to Hyderabad and deposit the cheque.
They could have easily forwarded my application to the Hyderabad Branch and get the account transferred in a very short time, but due to their indifferent and lethargic attitude, they refused to do it and made me run around so many times. Officially, the work could have been done at ease. But, they wanted to harass me and make me travel all the way to Hyderabad and harass me in the process. I am a working woman and have my Account with SBI from a long time. I cannot travel frequently and hence had asked the assistance of the bank. But they turned a deaf ear to all my pleas.
The officials are just harassing common people like me and taking advantage of their position. They have no helping attitude and neither do they provide any guidance.
It is my sincere request to take strict action against the Bank Manager as well as the officials as early as possible to prevent further harassment of fellow people. I hope and pray that my complaint is dealt with seriously.
